La Concepción
La Concepción is a town and a municipality in the Masaya department of Nicaragua.
Geography
The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipalities of Nindirí and Ticuantepe , to the south by the municipality of San Marcos , to the east by that of Masatepe , and to the west by the municipality of El Crucero. The municipal seat is located 32 kilometers from the capital of Managua.

History
The region of the current municipality in the year 1849 was temporarily populated by tobacco and grain growers from the department of Managua , who stayed in temporary homes during the year tilling their crops near their plantations. On April 8, 1889, it was declared a "town", with its current name. By legislative law of August 21, 1956, the old town was elevated to the political rank of "villa".
Demographics
La Concepción has a current population of 43,854 inhabitants. Of the total population, 50.3% are men and 49.7% are women. Almost 41.3% of the population lives in the urban area.
Nature and climate
The municipality has a subtropical climate , that is, a pleasant and cool climate. The average annual rainfall ranges between 71 and 214 mm. The temperature ranges between 26.2 to 27.3 °C, which defines it as a sub-tropical humid forest.
The municipality does not have an efficient pluvial drainage due to the lack of gutters and canals. The rainwater that comes from the highway to discharge properly in the main streets of La Concepción, causing deterioration and flooding.

Economy
The fundamental economic activity is agriculture, vegetables such as oranges, tangerines and sweet lemon are produced, as well as chayote , pineapple , plantains and bananas , pitahaya . and to a lesser extent other crops such as basic grains , beans and coffee, etc.
Culture
In La Concepción the traditional and the popular are manifested during the celebration of the patron saint festivities in honor of the Virgin of Monserrat, a revered image brought from Spain according to legend. The festivities take place from February 8 to 18; the image is carried in procession through the streets of the city on February 9, during the festivities the Mayordomo and other partygoers according to the calendar of their commitments, give visitors food and drinks typical of the customs and traditions of the Concheño people
